What is the MINIMUM time I can rent a generator for?
Generator hire is available for the following minimum periods.
Week Days: 1 Day
Weekends: 2 Days
Weekday Pickup: from 10am - 4pm
Weekday Drop-off: before 9am
Weekend Pickup: Between 8am and 1pm on Friday
Weekend Drop-off: Before 9am Monday
NO DROP OFF AVAILABLE ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY
What is the MAXIMUM time I can rent a generator for?
There is no maximum time that you can rent our generators for. Payment arrangements for longer term rentals will be discussed on a case by case basis.
Does the generator come with a plug or distribution board (DB)?
Up to 60kVA, the generators have plugs and sockets. The larger generators have different configurations and connection points. If you have a specific connection requirement please enquire with us to ensure that the generator you want to hire is configured correctly.
Is the generator on a trailer?
From 20kVA to 150kVA the generators are on trailers. The larger generators need to be transported with a crane truck. All trailer mounted generators are maintained to a high standard and are fully licensed.
Do I need to pay a deposit and why?
DEPOSITS ARE REFUNDABLE IF THE GENERATOR IS RETURNED IN THE SAME CONDITION. You are required to pay a deposit on every generator hired as security. This deposit is to cover the generator for any damage caused whilst in your possession. If the deposit does not cover the damage, you will be liable for any additional payment.
Do I need to get insurance on the generator?
All generators are insured by Bundu Power® Rental. Should the generator be lost / stolen / damaged when in the clients possession, it will be for the clients account to have the generator restored to its original condition. It should be noted that loss of a generator due to negligence will result in the renter being fully liable for the replacement of the generator.

Can I rent outside of South Africa?
No, we only rent generators in South Africa.
Is the generator ready to run when I get it?
All generators come 100% ready to run.
PLEASE NOTE: As the renter it is your responsibility to ensure that the generator is set-up and connected in compliance with the law. It is your responsibility to have an electrician issue a Certificate of Compliance (COC). It is vitally important to test the electrical output of the generator BEFORE connecting any equipment to ensure the electrical output of the generator is correct for your equipment.
What documents are required to rent a generator?
If you are renting the generator in your personal capacity, we require a copy of your ID document, or if it is on behalf of a company, we will need your company registration document. A contract containing all your details will be drawn up and signed by both yourself and Bundu Power Rental. In all instances a credit check and identity verification will be done prior to renting the generator.
Do I need an electrician to connect the generator?
YES - A qualified electrician should always be used when using our rental generators. All installations temporary or permanent should be checked by a qualified electrician before being turned on or connecting any equipment to the generator. Output of the generator MUST be checked before connecting equipment and a Certificate of Compliance (COC) must be issued by the electrician. Bundu Power Rental is not liable for damage to equipment caused by incorrect connections or damage due to checks not being performed prior to connecting equipment.
What about safety?
Safety is the responsibility of the RENTER (you). Ensure that the generator is cordoned off from the public and only the necessary people have access to the generator, Distribution board and all other accessories. Safety should come first! Ensure that all cables are in good condition and will not become exposed during operation. A fire extinguisher is supplied with all generators on trailers as well as an earthing spike.
Can I rent over a weekend?
We do rent generators over the weekend, but they need to be collected and returned during business hours. The generators have to be collected by 1pm on Friday and returned by 9am on Monday morning. Bundu Power Rental is not open over the weekend. Technical assistance is available, but no pick up's or drop off's will not be available over weekends. Over weekends a 2 day minimum rental is applicable.
Do I need to fill up the tank on return?
The choice is yours. Fill it up with fuel before returning it

We will fill it up and deduct the expense from the deposit. A 15% premium on pump price will be charged.
Do you supply an operator with your generator rentals?
No - The generator does not come with an operator. The operating instructions will be explained to the person collecting the generator.

Important when Renting
- Use a qualified electrician to connect
- Electrician to issue a Compliance Certificate (COC)
- Test genset output before connecting equipment
- Collect with a large enough vehicle to tow
- Allow for extra time when towing
- Ensure your tow-hitch is in good condition
- Ensure your trailer plug is working
- Know how to operate the fire extinguisher
- Ensure the earth spike is in the ground
- No unauthorised personal to use the generator
- Public safety is important, use the necessary precaution, barriers and protection
